[edit] Episode details
This episode takes place during the first half of the third novel, The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Taikutsu).
It starts with a scene of the school exterior, with some girls chatting, a boy running and another boy walking. Then another scene shows the school baseball field. Finally it is back to the SOS Brigade room (former Literary Club room) where Asahina is making tea. Nagato is sitting in the corner reading her book as usual. Kyon and Koizumi are playing a table game of baseball. After the tea is poured, Asahina brings the tea first to Kyon. Kyon takes a sip and remarks that it's delicious. Asahina proceeds to bring the tea to Koizumi and Nagato. Kyon then starts to narrate that Haruhi established the SOS Brigade back in May and now it's the month of June. And during that period, Kyon was involved in a world-cramping incident. He decides to stop talking about that, and starts to narrate today's story when Haruhi slams open the door, exclaiming that they are going to participate in the baseball tournament.
