The game resembles Legend of Galactic Heroes 3 or 4 as opposed to Master of Orion. This is both because Legend of Galactic Heroes has scale of ship in numbers of 8000-16000 per fleet, where as Master of Orion ships number in the twenties, and the game in the anime gives each player 15000 ships. Also, Legend of Galactic Heroes games plays classical music during battles, similar to the game depicted here.
